Ron Paul Campagin Update: Tremors Down Below

Greetings, readers! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I certainly enjoyed the long weekend, and we are starting off this shortened week with a bevy of fresh news stories on the Ron Paul presidential campaign. Skeptics, naysayers, and others who doubt the legitimacy or resiliency of the Paul effort need only perform a Google News search for "Ron Paul." Let us sample:

The media is still reacting to Paul's second place position (and strongest finish thus far in the campaign) in the Nevada caucuses. Here is an article from the Washington Post's online campaign coverage.

Today the New York Times finally added Ron Paul to their Web site's coverage of the Republican race. Here is a short article from the Charlotte Conservative. Yes, until now the Times' had completely ommitted Paul from their reporting on the presidential contenders. As the afore-linked article mentions, this change did not stem from an attitude shift on the part of the Times, but rather from Fred Thompson's decision to drop out of the race(WaPo story, Wired post). Look for a loving ode to Farmer Fred in a future posting.

Here is some related coverage on Third Party Watch.

More big news today: Norma McCorvey, a.k.a. "Jane Roe" of the Roe v Wade supreme court abortion case, officially endorsed Ron Paul today. Here is the story from MSNBC, and from Reason Online.

From the NBC writeup:

"I support Ron Paul for president because we share the same goal, that of overturning Roe v. Wade. He has never wavered on the issue of being pro-life and has a voting record to prove it. He understands the importance of civil liberties for all, including the unborn."

Also today: The Associated Press reported that Gary Johnson, former Texas governor, is supporting Ron Paul's presidential bid.

Another interesting article: "Ron Paul blames Federal Reserve for Weak Economy."

That's all for now. Until next time, keep going for The Gold!
